We at the Devon Road Safety Team are passionate about making the roads in the county the safest in the country. A great deal of our work is delivered with other organisations such as schools. The drama project is just one of the many innovations which contribute to this aim.
Our work with young people includes advice on pedestrian safety, drinking and driving, riding scooters and being the passenger in a car. In the primary section this extends to the strategies for coping with traffic as a pedestrian and cycle safety.
In 2006 we were granted Beacon Status, which means that the team was recognised for its work in this field and given the opportunity to share this work with other authorities.
The Devon Drivers’ Centre, which is part our road safety group, is dedicated to offering training and education to all age groups including pre-licence courses and Pass Plus Plus courses for teenagers learning to drive or newly qualified drivers.
